Suara Indonesia Workshops for Students and Teachers

Darwin Languages Centre was fortunate to have Indonesian dance group Suara Indonesia visit on 21 and 22 of August 2012. Students and teachers were amazed and entertained as Alfira and Murtala (Bang) presented an energetic mix of dance, body percussion and songs. Students and teachers participated in Ratoh Duek, sitting dances from Aceh, encompassing percussive rhythms made through clapping, clicking, and hitting the upper body and legs, and voice. One of the highlights of the visit was trying the Randai (big pants dance) and learning pencak silat (martial arts) from West Sumatra.
